Arguably the most foundational movement in our training repertoire. This course is a deep dive into the Deadlift in order to enhance our own movement practice as well as to better utilize the deadlift in our treatment methods, coaching, training, and functional life.
Master the technique: We will cover the best deadlift movement practices for the different purposes of the lift as well as go over common faults and corrections.
Functional Biomechanics: We will go through the biomechanics of the deadlift from a functional perspective. What happens inside of the body when we deadlift? Knowing the purpose of each bodily area during the deadlift is paramount to using the movement for the desired purpose.
Coaching and Cueing: Having the knowledge of movement means nothing if we cannot teach that movement. Coaching can be one of the most difficult aspects of movement practice. We will discuss the most powerful methods of coaching and cueing in order to ensure uptake with whoever you are training.
Implementation: You will move on this course. We will use our own movements to drive home how to understand the deadlift and use the lift in rehab, training, and other movements.
Progressive Overload: Loading is vitally important to a successful rehab or training program. Underload, adaptation doesn't happen. Overload, injury rates dramatically increase. We will discuss tried and true methods of progressive overload specifically for the deadlift.
